Guimarães is a city in the north of Portugal. It is known for well-preserved medieval buildings, such as the top of the hill, the Castle of Guimarães, in the 10th century, with stunning views of the city. The restored Palace of the Dukes of Bragança, built in the style of a French castle, has a museum that displays furniture, tapestries and weapons. Between the palace and the castle is the Romanesque church of São Miguel do Castelo, built in the 13th century.
